Peer Review and Manuscript Processing Workflow

Al-Noor Journal for Humanities (JNH)

Al-Noor Journal for Humanities (JNH) follows a structured, double-blind peer review system to ensure the highest quality of scholarly publishing. Below is an overview of the manuscript submission and review process:

1. Submission of Manuscript

The corresponding author submits the manuscript through the JNH online submission system:
https://jnh.alnoor.edu.iq
Submissions must comply with the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines.

2. Initial Structural Check

The Managing Editor checks the manuscript’s structure to ensure it meets the journal’s Author Guidelines (e.g., required sections, formatting, referencing style). Content quality is not assessed at this stage.

3. Editorial Evaluation

The Editor-in-Chief reviews the submission to confirm its relevance to the journal’s aim and scope and assess its originality and scholarly value. Manuscripts deemed unsuitable may be desk rejected without external review.

4. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using iThenticate. Manuscripts with a similarity index below 20% are eligible for review. Those exceeding this threshold are rejected.

5. Reviewer Invitation

The Editor-in-Chief invites external reviewers who have expertise in the manuscript’s subject area. Reviewers are not affiliated with the authors’ institutions or the JNH Editorial Board. A minimum of two accepted review invitations is required to proceed.

6. Reviewer Response

Invited reviewers assess their availability, potential conflicts of interest, and subject-matter relevance before accepting or declining the invitation.

7. Review Process

Accepted reviewers critically evaluate the manuscript. Reviews typically include an initial overview followed by a detailed, constructive, point-by-point analysis. Reviewers recommend one of the following:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

Reviews are submitted confidentially through the journal’s system.

8. Editorial Review of Reports

The Editor-in-Chief considers all submitted peer reviews. If reviewer feedback is significantly divergent, an additional reviewer may be invited before making a final decision.

9. Initial Decision Notification

The Editor-in-Chief sends a decision letter to the author, including anonymized reviewer comments and editorial feedback.

10. Submission of Revised Manuscript

If revisions are requested, the author must address all reviewer comments and highlight changes in the revised document (using colored text or highlights).

11. Final Decision and Processing

Upon satisfactory revision and final approval by the Editor-in-Chief, the manuscript proceeds to typesetting and publication.
Note: JNH does not charge any publication fees.

This workflow ensures academic rigor, ethical integrity, and fair review practices in line with international standards in scholarly publishing.
